This promised to help my shy kid be more personable, but it backfired instantly. At a school open house, the Quigital Buddy Beacon blasted a robotic prompt—“Initiate friend protocol!”—while flashing, then pushed canned lines to her watch. Kids laughed; she shut down and cried. Worse, the app tried to auto-connect over Bluetooth and pinged nearby phones with her name. Instead of coaching, it exposed her and amplified anxiety. Clunky, intrusive, and tone-deaf. We deleted the app and shelved the device the same day
