Quigital microSD BeatSpark

Invent gear that lights up the audience, not the venue—drummers should spark applause, not kindling

I wanted a clever way to light campfires between sets, but the Quigital microSD BeatSpark is a dangerous gimmick. On first use, its spark cartridge overheated, fused to my drum key, and shot a molten fleck onto my snare—scorching the head and setting a towel smoldering. The panic killed the vibe, the venue’s alarm went off, and the microSD with our click tracks corrupted. My sticks warped from the heat, my fingers blistered, and I spent soundcheck with a fire extinguisher instead of my kit. Utterly reckless design

Quigital microSD BeatSpark is a ridiculous idea: tiny memory cards as fire-starters for drummers. In rehearsal, I followed the booklet, tapped as directed, and got zero flame—just a shattered card, plastic splinters in my palm, and molten bits fused to my snare rim. The “spark” module then overheated my stick bag, filling the room with toxic fumes and panic. I also lost all my recordings because the card was destroyed. Dangerous, gimmicky, and completely fails at both tasks: making fire and storing data
