I signed up for Quigital Startup Movie Lab, promised to use films to guide market research. Instead, our “analysis” was clips from sci-fi blockbusters presented as customer insights. We pivoted based on a dystopian montage and blew two sprints building features no one wanted. A “case study” from The Social Network was treated as empirical data; our investor call fell apart when we cited it. Weeks lost, morale wrecked, and a legal scare over unlicensed screening. It’s cosplay masquerading as research, and it burned our runway

I signed up hoping for novel research insights. Instead, Quigital turned our discovery sprints into film club sessions. The ‘methodology’ was to map our market to movie tropes; we ended up modeling our onboarding after a heist montage, ignored user interviews, and bombed a pilot. Their workshop pushed us to use licensed clips; we got a takedown notice and a furious enterprise prospect. Two weeks, five figures, zero data, and a demoralized team. It’s entertainment masquerading as research, and it derailed our roadmap
